Job Summary

As an entry-level Construction Wireman (CW) working as an electrical journeyman helper, you will assist electricians and other skilled personnel in various tasks related to electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs at construction sites or within industrial settings. This role involves providing support and learning opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the electrical trade. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in Installation: Aid in the installation of electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to blueprints, specifications, and local electrical codes under the supervision of experienced electricians. 
  • Material Handling: Assist in transporting and handling electrical materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites. Organize and maintain inventory of tools and supplies. 
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors immediately. 
  • Preventive Maintenance: Assist in conducting routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. Learn to identify potential issues and perform minor repairs as directed. 
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Learn to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to assist in carrying out tasks accurately and efficiently. 
  • Support Senior Electricians: Collaborate with journeyman electricians and other team members to complete projects within specified timelines and quality standards. 
  • Pre-fabrication: Work within the pre-fabrication shop to assist with the completion of various pre-fab tasks. 
  • Learning and Development: Actively engage in learning opportunities provided on the job to enhance electrical knowledge and skill set. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or coursework in electrical studies is a plus. 
  • Willingness to learn and work in a physically demanding environment. 
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools commonly used in electrical work. 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. 
  • Stamina and physical dexterity to perform tasks that involve bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
